~My nails are this totally blackish purple, called "Plum Luck". I like it. Except it's almost too black...which could come off as either "Yo man, I'm a punk", or "Classy. Simply classy." I'm going with the second ;)
~My ankle hardly hurts anymore! Which makes me feel like I'm majorly disappointing the physical therapists, who I'm pretty sure want me to scream in pain...
~Going with bride #3 to pick up my bridesmaid dress on Wednesday. I hope it still fits. I hope I don't have to be in another wedding for a while! Too much stress over worrying about the dresses still fitting months after ordering them ;)
~Tim Tebow is a Jet! Which makes me happy, because he's only a state away ;) (You know, cause obviously I'll be running into him.) And there's a chance that he'll be coming to Pittsburgh to play the Steelers, and I plan to be there!! At least, hopefully. We gots Steeler ticket connections ;D
~I guess most importantly, ba da da dum...I have an official real job. Like, a real job. I am now a secretary at the doctor's office :o Or at least I will be. I have to finish my current task of finishing the files I'm working on, but then I shall be fully trained (I've already started training) and will take my place on the battle lines! (And I'm not being dramatic! You'd be surprised just how crazy it is). So I'm officially staying there for who knows how long. It's the kind of job I could potentially have until I get married and have kids someday. Thank you Lord! He's always got a plan. Even when (especially when) I don't see it!
...I can't think of anything else right now. I'm sure I will later. But for now? It's 7 o'clock and I'm gonna go curl up in bed. Ahhh sleep. At least, hypothetically. That's what I'd like to do. Probably won't, though. Oh well! Sayonara!
Let me guess, you saw that title and hopped with joy, eh? ;)
Well, I'm not here to lecture you again. But I am going to share a link with you to my pastor's blog, a man whose opinion I greatly respect, and in this case (most cases, really), absolutely agree with.
I contacted him after seeing post after post on Facebook from people within my church talking about their fascination, their love, their excitement for The Hunger Games...it seemed (and still sometimes does) that I was the only person in the world who saw this series as I do. Well, I'm glad to say that I'm not.
Anyways. Give it a look, see what he has to say...it's worth your time.
There are three segments to his thoughts on the series:
I have so much on my mind tonight, and all I want to do is run it off. I haven't felt that way in, well, years. I went through a period of constant stressing over a certain situation and hopping on the treadmill and sprinting till I couldn't possibly go on became my way of letting out all of my built up tension...healthy stress reliever, eh? ;)
And tonight I've got that feeling again, that feeling where half of me wants to run away from all of the thoughts whirling through my mind, and the other half just wants quiet. To be far away from the rest of the world, where I can just breathe.
Well, thanks to my badly sprained ankle that feels as if there's a knife lodged in it if I move it even a centimeter in the wrong direction, running's not an option. My somewhat large family makes getting *truly* quiet a bit of a difficulty. And considering my parents are paranoid worriers, getting in the car and driving away for an hour or two at 10 o'clock at night: definitely not an option.
I just want to hibernate for like, 3 days straight; let my nerves get recharged, take a deep breath, spend some serious, uninterrupted time seeking the Lord, and step away from the world around me: the arguments, the drama, the worries, the wishes and hopes that shouldn't be there, the noise.
Well, 3 straight days is a bit unrealistic. But tomorrow's Saturday, and Saturday'sabout as good as it gets for a day of relaxation...maybe I'll even hop in the car and just drive.
Always sounds good, but knowing me, I'd get lost, and my dad would have to come find me...Fail.
By the way...is that football he's holding broken? Weird.
Why is "The Adventures of Tin Tin" so monotonous to me?
(Rin Tin Tin and Tin Tin...not the same. I know. But he's so furry!)
When on earth will I learn to be on time???
If only I were a queen.
Why are so many of you guys from Oregon? What on earth...?? Ya'll are so far away! And like, in a different time zone and everything! Weird.
(That picture came up...Snazzy!)
Why did my ankle trick me into thinking it was doing wonderfully, and now I feel like I'm going to die it hurts so bad?
Here we go: Why are all of the good guys either plain uninterested, in a relationship, or married? (That's a new one I've encountered in life. Boo.)
How can it be that the Disney Movie Rewards club is so awesome?? They're totally helping me build up my collection of Disney figurines!! Woot woot!
Is it possible that the first doctor I saw, who told me I had a broken bone in my ankle, was right after all? Because...I'm starting to doubt doctor #2 :o
Why didn't Rose just scootch over to give Jack room, and therefore, the happy ending would've actually happened??
"I'll never let go, Jack. I'll never let go."
*sniffle*
Wow. I just got genuinely, truly, depressed. Yikes.
How many more days till I get to go see that (Titanic) in theaters?? In 3d??? Eep! Considering I was 6 when it came out the first time...oh the excitement!
Isn't it odd that it was insanely hot out today? In March? In Pennsylvania? :O
Do women ever stop being catty? When you're 90 years old, and you're in a Bible study or quilting group or whatever 90 year old women do...are you still just as catty as you were when you were 50? 30? 15? Does it ever end??
Is it possible to read a Nicholas Sparks book and not cry?
Where did all the anvils go?
Speaking of, will I ever meet someone who I can speak Gilmore to?
Will my parents bring me a McFlurry? Or won't they? 0.O
Who is Justice Beaver, really?
Can I take a nap please? (She says at 10 o'clock at night)
Prepare to be overwhelmed with wonderful, encouraging music!!! Really, though. Every song on this list deserves to be there. Only the current best made it. ;) So while you're Facebook creeping, or blog-surfing, or news-reading, make your way through my list of current favorite songs. There's quite a few gems here :)
Shall we begin?
Scars by Jonny Diaz I was anxiously awaiting the release of this one after he mentioned it on Twitter...this is the guy who sings "More Beautiful You", also mentioned on this list ;) Simply wonderful, both of them. Unfortunately, this one isn't quite available on Youtube...If you've got iTunes, you can preview it there :) ~"Praise God we don't have to hide scars...we know His are covering ours."~
You're Beautiful by MercyMe Ever since I visited the Dominican, this song has been known to me as "the Dominican song"; One morning, during worship, our worship leader had everyone flock to the balcony to look over God's creation, to watch the rising sun, and to fully sing the words of this song to the Lord...such a precious, beautiful moment. The Phil Wickham version is the one I very first heard, and will always love the most, but this version by MercyMe is simply, well, beautiful :) ~"I see your power in the moonlit night, where planets are in motion and galaxies are bright. We are amazed in the light of the stars. It's all proclaiming who you are...You're beautiful."~
When the Stars Burn Down by Phillips, Craig & Dean Gives me chills, as I think of that day when we'll meet Him face to face... ~"There will come a day, standing face to face; In a moment, we will be like Him. He will wipe our eyes dry, take us up to His side, and forever we will be His."~
Spark by The City Harmonic So. Cool. Uses part of a speech of Martin Luther King Jr's. And segues into the next song... ~"This little light's gonna shine; with just a spark, light a fire. Just a spark could change my heart."~
Mountaintop by The City Harmonic Gets the title from Martin Luther King Jr's speech excerpted in "Spark" ;) Simply fabulous. Makes you want to shout. ~"We've been to the mountaintop, we've seen the glory of our God! He's here, in the valley low, He's here, I feel it in my bones, our God, here and now, we are the body of Christ!"
10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord) by Matt Redman There's this boy who goes to my church who's a year older than me and has the voice of an angel. But a powerful angel, you know? Not the sweet, dainty, fluttery angels...No, his voice is insane. He was also our worship leader in the Dominican ;) Us girls in our room right off the balcony would lay in our beds and listen to him practice! Haha! If you heard him, you'd understand. He hasn't sung up front at church for a while, which makes me sad. But this was one of "his" songs. ~"And on that day, when my strength is failing, the end draws near, and my time has come...still my soul will sing Your praise unending 10,000 years and then forevermore"~
One Thing Remains by Jesus Culture ~"Your love never fails, never gives up, never runs out on me."~
Oh, Great God, Give Us Rest by David Crowder Band From David Crowder Band's latest and last album, "Give Us Rest". The entire album is a beautiful piece of art, with each song flowing into the next. This was the first song I'd heard off of it, and instantly fell in love. ~"Could you take a song and make it thine, from a crooked heart, twisted up like mine? Would you open up Heaven's glory light, shine on in, and give these dead bones life?"~
Wedding Day by Casting Crowns *sigh*. Being a girl who's always dreamed of her wedding day, and her perfect prince, "Bridegroom" as a name of Christ touches my heart the most. At this point in life, it's the name that means the most to me. This song is a perfect picture of what's to come for the bride of Christ. ~"When the hands that bear the only scars in Heaven touch her face, and the last tears she'll ever cry are finally wiped away, and the clouds roll back as He takes her hand and walks her through the gates, forever we will reign."~
All of Me by Matt Hammitt Written for his baby boy Bowen, who was born with a heart defect, this song is beautiful beyond beautiful. ~"Heaven brought you to this moment, it's too wonderful to speak, you're worth all of me...So let me recklessly love you, even if I bleed, you're worth all of me."~
What Do I Know of Holy by Addison Road ~"Where have I even stood, but the shore along your ocean? Are you fire, are you fury? Are you sacred, are you beautiful? What do I know of Holy?"~
Bring Us Home (Joshua) by Michael Tait, Blanca Callahan, & Lecrae The first on this list from the most incredible CD I've ever heard, called "Music Inspired by The Story", all songs based on a character (or characters) in the Bible, starting in the garden of Eden, and ending with the Second Coming. Truly, I can't tell you how much I love this CD. Go buy it. Seriously. You won't regret it! ~"You are fire in the night sky, you are cloud by day...We're calling on the name of Yahweh"~
Empty (Disciples) by Dan Haseltine & Matt Hammitt Also from "The Story", this is the song of the disciples, after Jesus died and rose again! And Matt Hammitt's voice is simply enchanting. ~"There's an empty cross, there's an empty tomb...fire and wind now sweeping in this tiny upper room. There's a hungry world, there's a risen King. Unlock the doors, what reason more could we ever need? So sing with me, I dare you to. Cause there's an empty cross...there's an empty tomb." We wept from a distance, watched pieces of our dreams buried with you, every last wound, sealed with stone beyond our reach. Sweet, sweet Jesus...every question, every fear vanishing, like vapour dreams now that you're standing here."~
More Beautiful You by Jonny Diaz In a world where we girls feel the pressure to be physically perfect, Jonny Diaz does what he can to be a gentleman and remind us that we are beautiful in the eyes of Christ. ~"So turn around, you're not too far to back away, be who you are, to change your path, go another way, it's not too late, you can be saved. If you feel depressed with past regrets, the shameful nights {you} hope to forget can disappear, they can all be washed away...by the One who's strong, can right your wrongs, can rid your fears, dry all your tears, and change the way you look at this big world. He will take your dark distorted view and with His light, He will show you truth, and again you'll see through the eyes of a little girl."~
Your Heart (David) by Chris Tomlin Another from The Story, perhaps the most powerful on the whole album. Who does the world see when they look at us...us, or Jesus? ~"At the end of the day, I wanna hear people say that my heart looks like Your heart. Unashamed, I will dance, in Your name, lift my hands, till my heart looks like Your heart."~
I'm always on the lookout for new music, too. Do ya'll have any good suggestions for me?
Aha!!!! Every single time I watch Titanic, at the end, I get so bitter because Jack totally would've fit up there if Rose hadn't been so selfish! Argh!
So this past Christmas, my collection of Disney figurines officially began! See, all of the women in our family have a figurine collection of sorts: my mom: Precious Moments, Abby: creepy little fairies, Emily: Cinderella items, Nana: snowglobes. So I decided random Disney!! And so my mom got me started on Jim Shore's Disney collection...and this is one of his pieces! Beautiful! And on my Pinterest Christmas wish board ;D
